Admission requirements
Admission to the diploma program, certificate program or preparatory program is by audition. Candidates are evaluated on the basis of their physical attributes, their technical proficiency, their musicality, their artistry and their motivation to pursue a professional career in modern and contemporary dance. Candidates who wish to audition for L’École de danse de Québec must fulfil the following requirements:

• Possess a high-school diploma
• Possess sound physical attributes for dance
• Possess a solid technical foundation in dance including a significant base in classical ballet
• Demonstrate good musicality and a sense of artistry
• Be highly motivated and have a strong desire to pursue a professional career in dance

Admission procedure

Diploma program and Preparatory Program with academic courses
at the Cégep de Sainte-Foy

• Apply to the SRACQ (regional board of admissions) before March 1st at (418) 659-4873 or online at the following address: http://www.sraq.qc.ca/
• Successfully pass the audition process at L’École de danse de Québec.

Candidates registered for admission through the SRACQ are contacted by telephone approximately one week before the audition for final confirmation.

Certificate program and Preparatory Program without the academic component:

• Apply directly to L’École de danse de Québec at (418) 649-4715.
• Successfully pass the audition process at L'École de danse de Québec

The following applies to all programs:

• The principal audition is held mid-March.
• Applications received after March 1st are considered if space is still available. A second audition is generally held in May.
• Audition fees are $55, payable in advance.
• Candidates must provide a copy of their birth certificate, two photos (one portrait and a full body photo in dance attire) and a resume of their dance training and experience.
• Auditions by videotape, CD-ROM or DVD are optional for those who cannot travel to Quebec City. See the Audition Process section for more information.
• Particular rules apply to foreign students who wish to study in the province of Québec. A "Certificat d’Acceptation du Québec" must be obtained prior to applying for a student visa from the Federal Government. Please note, these procedures take time and should be undertaken well in advance!
