In keeping with L'École de danse de Québec's commitment to producing
well-rounded performing artists who possess valuable and relevant
career management skills, each graduating class is required to realize
an ambitious production project during their final year. The project
culminates each spring in a professional concert of contemporary dance,
which the graduating students bring through all aspects of creation and
production, including costumes and lighting, fundraising, marketing,
contract negotiations with guest choreographers and budget management.
Graduating students who wish to do so can also choreograph a piece for
the production. School staff provide guidance and supervision
throughout the process, but ultimately, the graduating class is
responsible for the success of the project both artistically and
financially.
The final year production project always culminates in a fascinating
series of performances that bear the imprint of a unique group of
emerging contemporary dance artists who have striven to unite their
individual energies and artistic visions into a coherent whole: their
first professional concert of contemporary dance as young
professionals.
