productions and annual performances

Représentations publiques

The recreational division's major production is undoubtedly the year-end recital held each spring. At the beginning of each school year, an artistic committee composed of teachers is formed to assist the Head of the recreational division, who also acts as artistic director of the production. A theme is chosen by the committee and teachers are responsible for choreography and costumes. This annual mega-production, held in a local theatre within a professional framework, highlights over 250 student dancers in an uplifting display of youthful energy and artistry. All children's groups perform in the production. However, older teens and adults who wish to participate must register for a winter semester choreographic workshop on top of their regular class or classes. Tickets for the year-end recital are available approximately four weeks before performances.

Other performance opportunities can arise during the year according to age and level. All students perform class work during open house classes held in December and February or March. Participants in the Children's Summer Dance Camp perform in a local theatre, and a studio performance is sometimes held at the end of the recreational division's summer semester for teens and adults. Moreover, members of the school's performance groups (see Performance groups in this section) perform throughout the year in a number of public and community events.
